~Feedback for Mr. B~
Feedback about my work as a teacher is vital to my professional growth. At the end of the school year, parents and students are asked to participate in an anonymous feedback survey to aid in my development as an educator. Read below to see what parents and students included in their feedback:
~What Parents Have to Say~ |
~What Students Have to Say~ |
"Understands students interests well and chooses subject matter that is engaging. Clear communication. Helpful evaluation feedback."
"1. Sets high expectations and accountability for work while providing appropriate supports and risk taking. This is where intellectual growth happens. 2. Provides regular communications to parents. Enables me to be aware of assignments to ensure that my highly distractable child stays on task. 3. Tailors learning to relevant topics (e.g. digital literacy) and emphasizes the development of critical thinking, arguably THE most import skill for the future." "Clear expectations, constant feedback, constructive criticism and recognition, incorporating different teaching methods to keep students engaged." "Mr. B. You empower your students to be creative or not. You allow your student fluidity and recognize when strategies need to be focused on and not the subject matter. You provide a space where students can be expressive and ask questions freely with no judgment and a bit of sarcasm (which is totally necessary)." "1. He makes learning fun. His teaching style and enthusiasm made this my daughter's favourite class this year. 2. He keeps parents updated of what's happening in class. (I definitely know more about what my daughter worked on this year in English than in any other subject.) 3. He gains the respect of his students by challenging them and being involved in many aspects of school life." "He is patient He is always available when a child has a question or is struggling He is fair and allows a child to ask about why they received a grade and have a discussion about it." "The class is well structured, strong content, and my daughter had a chance to shine. She knew the expectations were high and she applied herself." "presents interesting, relevant material connects with students inspires students to succeed." "Relate to the students. Engage the students. Respect the students individuality and personalities." "Mr. B provided weekly updates as to the work being done in class. I couldn't tell you what is being taught in French or Math but I always know what is happening in English. It takes work to send weekly updates and I hope Mr. B knows how much it is appreciated. Mr. B clearly states what is expected and provides a safe classroom for learning. My child feels comfortable in reaching out when needed and does not feel scared to ask for help. Sadly this is not the case with other teachers. Mr. B makes learning fun. Reading the Hobbit and entering into Tolkien's world was a fantastic way to learn and challenge those reading skills. My child will never forget Mr. B's ELA class." "Mr. B gives thoughtful feedback to students and to their parents about their work; Mr. B enjoys teaching, and plans lessons and assignments that students will enjoy; Mr. B shows genuine concern for students' academic and personal development, and made our child feel safe and supported this year." "Mr B. is very positive while providing a challenging environment to the students. Communication with the parents is stellar, with the weekly newsletter providing invaluable information about upcoming work and assignments. The time it takes to publish the newsletter every week is a reflection of Mr B.’s dedication to his student and is greatly appreciated." "Mr. B has been kind and understanding with my child who is shy and more insecure than they should be. Mr B has provided a safe space for these kids to be who they are with no judgment and to share their opinions through writing." "1. Planning and creating interesting, challenging, and fun lessons and assignments 2. Connecting with the students and fostering school spirit 3. Communicating with parents - going above and beyond to share what the students are up to in the classroom." "Information is relevant to what's out there today (ie marketing in ads, social media, various channels). The students are challenged and being set up for expectations in coming school years -even though he hasn't received assignments like this to date, they were relevant. When communicated with, all expectations were reasonable especially when circumstances prevented a student to complete an assignment on time." "You are hands down my son's favourite teacher and this has been his favourite class he has ever taken at south hull. You made my son feel seen and respected in the classroom. You encouraged my son to challenge himself and improve his work without making the coursework overwhelming or stressful for him. The course material you presented was interesting to my son and further developed his love of reading and writing." "You have a real gift with the kids ! You got our dyslexic adhd child to read a book and always look forward to finishing assignments for your class! Triumph for sure! Not sure how you did this.... You speak to the kids in a way they understand. You have age appropriate conversations and examples for the kids to engage with. This makes them feel less like a group of babies and more like the pre-teen individuals that they are. You seem to have a very good grasp of where they are in their psychological development and that is so important - they aren’t naive, but they also have a limited understanding of certain things, so a teacher’s words can be very impactful or detrimental. You’re doing great and we really appreciate you. We also appreciate the firm rules on assignments and deadlines. This is good preparation for the next phase of their education. Lastly, the rigour of a regular reading circle activity combined with different things like the rap assignment really keeps them on their toes!" "1. Mr. B is dedicated to the cause of teaching children. Mr. B, from what I can see, appears to be passionate about teaching, to be sympathetic to the kids during their ups and downs, and actually truly enjoys the work. 2. Mr. B seems sincerely interested and entertained by what the children are producing in their assignments. Again, I am not sure the kids feel the same way, but if it were me, I would be inspired to do better by seeing my B tap his foot and nod his head to the rap songs the kids wrote, to name one example - he is so engaged. 3. Mr. B makes work fun. He seems to be in tune with what is entertaining from the children's perspective. A lot of adults/teachers fail to grasp that." "open communication with parents cool hip teaching style his loves for the job shines through daily." "He sees where a student struggles and provides help and guidance. He chose excellent books for the literature circle. He makes lessons fun and interesting." "Personal connections with student; encouraging students to try their best - and its ok not to be perfect; instilling a sense of community amongst his students." "Excellent communication with students and parents! Provides constructive and continuous feedback to students! Has a positive attitude! Thank you so much for being a teacher and for providing such a positive learning experience to children. Keep up the incredible work!" "He gives children a voice, is fair with all students and explains things well and he engages students by making learning fun." "Mr. B has high expectations for his students as shown in his feedback on their written assignments. His feedback on assignments are detailed and thoughtful. He provides positive feedback while also suggesting areas to grow. Mr. B motivates his students to want to perform well, which I think is great." "He elevated the learning process I am so grateful for the new books he Introduced to my daughter and the class he is able to challenge my daughter ( which is not an easy task!!!) all while providing an excellent and engaging learning curriculum while simultaneously making it FUN! He was able to have a classroom in which the students respected him even though he was teaching them challenging stuff because he has an ability to do so while still having fun with them He fostered an environment of mutual respect, fun and alot of quality higher learning. His classroom was democratic not authoritarian and that’s what kids respond to and clearly he is very well aware of that." "You are a fantastic teacher that radiates from a place of joy and the children and parents can feel this. Those around you want to learn as you are so passionate about what you teach." "I want to reiterate how much I appreciate that you go above and beyond what is expected of a teacher, from the newsletter to running South Hull News. Students may not appreciate what you do for them, but they will realize it when they are older and know how lucky they were to have you as a teacher." "Thank you for truly being the amazing teacher that you are. You make a difference in your students learning and for that I will be forever grateful!" "Excellent teacher, and the love for the students is palpable. An incredible human being, joyous, humorous but serious when you need to be. The joy of learning is infectious and, it’s working!" "We have been so very blessed to have you as a teacher this year. In a year where a lot was up in the air, you helped act as a grounding rock for these kids - and for that - I can not thank you enough. Boy do I wish my son had the chance to have you as a teacher! Your effort with not only the parents but most of all, the students is second to none. Thank you, Thank you, thank you." "Really appreciated the communication you do (newsletter etc) and that my child came home and talked about what was being read and their views on it. Just awesome." "Connecting with students - I see the camaraderie and respect afforded the students. This goes a long way with this age of students." "He is willing to push the kids out of their comfort zones and try something difficult." "Inspiring the class with great interactive learning and building relationships with the students." "He is friendly and relatable to the kids, my child wanted to do well in Me B s class." "Engaged, communicative, provides a safe space for students to participate and learn. He is genuinely interested in seeing his students succeed." "Communication and personality. Communication enables a great relationship between teacher and parents. Personality allows the kids to enjoy being at school and creates an environment where kids want to learn." "Your take on the curriculum is great. Love the high expectations, clear guidance and communication and excellent feedback on assignments. Great learning conditions." "-Connection with your students -Interesting assignments, thought-provoking topics -Challenging student to meet their potential -Detailed feedback -School spirit -Organization and clarity -Sense of humour!" "Communication, inspiring students to love reading and writing, organization and care for students. Full commitment!" "He cares about his students. He really does want the kids to succeed." "Provides children with the tools they need to succeed, and then allows them the space and opportunity to put these skills to work." "Mr. B is very involved. Most, if not all students look up to him. His curriculum involved topics that are interesting for students." "Mr. B's ability to keep his students engaged is a definite strength. He has high expectations and challenges them, yet they enjoy learning with him. It's impressive!" "You have many strengths, first and foremost, I think relating to the students and inspiring them to be their best is the biggest strength a teacher can have. From there, you can do so much and you did just that. Your feedback was very helpful too." "Mr. B has an infectious enthusiasm with the subject matter. It is obvious that he truly enjoys what he does and goes above and beyond for this to rub off on his students. We've seen that enthusiasm in [our daughter] who dove headlong into reading The Hobbit, excited to write her narrative and looking forward to ELA each day; all things we never would have believed a year ago. ELA became a favourite subject for her over the course of the year." |

"Help when I ask for it, make the class laugh and bring positivity to class." "Gives good advice. Kind. Funny." "He doesn't make the class boring. communicate with us, because he is so nice but also sarcastic which makes me laugh. And how he gives the students nicknames to make us laugh because it makes us feel special when he does that." "Mr.B makes learning fun , he explains very well and he helps us when we need it." "3 things is how he is able to bring happiness into the classroom and people like him because of that, my second thing is he has a strong bond with most of the students, i chose this because we are able to talk to him if something is wrong, and my last thing is the work that we do example the literature circles because it really brings the class bond together." "He is nice, he is organized and he cares about the students." "He makes the class exciting, fun and unlike any other." He's good at understanding people when they're mad, sad or happy. He has a whole bunch of fun things to do every day for us to learn or for us to do." "1. Mr.B does well at giving out fun homework. 2.Mr.B does well at being Respectful to his students. 3.Mr.B does well at teaching his students to be Respectful." "He is very nice and helps students when they need." "His biggest strength would be the constructive criticism he gives us with our narratives which helps me a lot, me writing." "I think his biggest strength is how he can make things fun and educational at the same time." "Mr.B can make everything very fun and interesting. he also has expectations and doesn't play around when it comes to serious work. He's the best! :)" "he is compassionate and caring toward his students and will always be there for you." "His biggest strength as an english teacher here at south hull is his relationship with his students which makes me enjoy being in his class a lot more. He is just so hilarious at times and I always look forward to joining him in class every day." "Mr.B is a very nice person and is always there when you need help. And Mr.B knows how to make school a fun place." "I feel that one of his biggest strength as a teacher (he has many) is that he tries to teach the class important things and is supportive of the students." "[He] gets along well with the students in the class and cares a lot about his students and he gives a lot of respect and privacy for his students." "he is good at supporting and encouraging students" "Probably his sense of humor because he cheers me up when i'm having a bad day and helps me solve problems i needed help with, and his teaching, since he makes everything funny and makes certain things a lot easier for me to understand." "I think that Mr. B's biggest strength as a teacher is making things fun, and recognising our hard work. I say that because the topics and videos that he brings up is always unique and never heard of by me. He also always knows that we are trying our absolute best even if we get a low grade, and always points out our mistakes. I also really enjoy the feedback at the back because it helps me improve then doing the same thing over and over again consistently." "Although he has many strengths, his number one is his understanding of students and their feelings/work. He knows how you feel about things and with time learns more about you and your personality. While you learn stuff in class, he learns about you and your work." "He's always got are backs and cares about us he's the best teacher I've ever had i couldn't wish for another one because he's nice and when ever i have a sad face he turns it upside down to a happy face you're the best." "He gets kids to do their absolute best. I thought that because when Mr.B gives kids work to do, he starts small and then works his way up to harder work and if he sees that kids are doing worse, he will make the work a bit less hard to see what level the kids are at, then, he works from there to make the children smarter and more efficient in English." "He connects with the students in such a way it's like hes not a teacher but a friend. yet we give him the same respect as a teacher." "I think Mr. B is really good at giving us good feedback about our work. He explains why what you did is a mistake and gives you good feedback for what you could do next time to make your work better." "He forms good relationships with his students which in my opinion i feel like it makes us more comfortable to ask questions and get a clear answers." |
